...but I do know the worst song ever recorded-

(and it ain't "Gimme Dat Ding" by the Pipkins,
"Winchester Cathedral" by The New Vaudeville Band or "Little Ol' Man" by Bill Cosby)

it is, in fact-

"ONCE YOU UNDERSTAND" by Think

"I'm sorry Mr Cook, you better come down to the station house........."

Well, she wouldn't put "Muskrat Love" on there because I'd be singing the lyrics to "Muskrat GLOVES" the whole time.

"And they wormed and they squirmed and they Retched...
Desperately gasping for breath...
They'll be together when I fold my hands...
Looks like it's..
Muskrat Glooooooves...."

Just to get my $0.02 in....

I've been groovin' on Jackassolantern by Widespread Panic.

Wink

According to the first line of the song, Tenacious D's "Tribute" is the greatest and best song in the world.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">They do say that very early in the song, but the first line of the song states that it's the best song in the world.....

"Tribute"

[Spoken]
This is the greatest and best song in the world... Tribute.

Long time ago me and my brother Kyle here,
we was hitchhikin' down a long and lonesome road.
All of a sudden, there shined a shiny demon... in the middle... of the road.
And he said:
[Sung]
"Play the best song in the world, or I'll eat your soul." (soul)
[Spoken]
Well me and Kyle, we looked at each other,
and we each said... "Okay."

Ah... read your own writing...

"[Spoken]
This is the greatest and best song in the world... Tribute."

They are saying it is the tribute to the greatest and best song in the world. They even state in the song, that they couldn't remember the greatest song in the world, so that's why this song is just a tribute to them making the best song in the world. The album version is a little different from the original version, the one from the old HBO show, but if I remember clearly, they state that in both versions. It's confusing, but that's the D.
